Focus on Risks and Vulnerabilities in Italy and Croatia

LIFE SECADAPT’s partners finalized the analysis on vulnerabilities and associated risks related to climate changes impact at regional and local level.

At project level partners shared a common methodology starting from 4th IPCC Assessment definition of Vulnerability on climate change: “the degree to which a system is susceptible to, or unable to cope with, adverse effects of climate change, including climate variability and extremes. Vulnerability is a function of the character, magnitude, and rate of climate variation to which a system is exposed, its sensitivity, and its adaptive capacity”.
The concept is deepen through a model indicators’ approach to assign a value to each Vulnerability component, as showed in the following scheme:

Each partner has chosen its own specific sectors (e.g. agriculture, health, coastal environment, infrastructures etc.) , based on local territorial characteristic and climate trends, detailing analysis at city sub-scale level, while at Regional level two analysis has been realized for Istria and Marche Region to make possible framing at large scale.

The reports are available in the result section of the LIFE SECADAPT website.
